Primo Maggio Concert

The Primo Maggio is Italy’s biggest free one-day open-air concert that celebrates Italy’s “Labor Day”.
Born in 1990’s, it takes place in front of the breath-taking Cathedral of San Giovanni in Laterano, in Rome. Each year 100K music revelers descend on Piazza Giovanni to make this Italy’s biggest free live concert. The event is also broadcasted live on RAI, Italy’s national TV broadcaster, beginning at 3pm and non-stop until midnight with viewing figures that have peaked at over 8 million. Past headliners have included chart-topping Italian and international acts such as Subsonica, Negramaro, Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Skunk Anansie, to mention a few.

How does it work?

Before thrusting you under such a big spotlight we need to check a few things

Once the acts have been shortlisted for the online vote, their information (band photo, bio, MP3/video) will be uploaded to our 1M Europe website where music fans can cast their votes for their favourite act.
Entrants can share their page to promote their entry and help drive traffic to their profile.
Before we put you in front 100K people just need to check you can do it live.

The top 25 acts (from London*) and 9 acts (other European cities*) generating the highest “buzz” from the online voters, or via recommendation from our music partners, will form the final Live Nominees who’ll perform at the “1M Nominees Live Concert”.
These concerts will be streamed live and attended by the Primo Maggio representatives and partners who along with the live and online audiences will determine the final 8 acts (London) and 1 acts (other UK Cities) who will perform at the 1M UK Final Award Ceremony.

For other European cities (excluding the UK) one winner will perform at 1M Europe showcase in Rome.In London there will be 3 concerts, with a maximum of 9 performing acts, with 2 from each show going on to perform at the 1M UK Final & Award Ceremony.
In other UK cities there will be 1 concert, with a maximum of 8 performing acts, with 1 act, from each city, performing at the 1M UK Final Award Ceremony in London.
Information regarding the voting process is available upon request and will be communicated directly to each shortlisted act performing at the “1M Nominees Live Show”

1M UK Final & Award Ceremony will showcase the best 11 UK acts in London where 2 acts, decided by the live and online audiences (streaming), Primo Maggio organizers, music partners and invited press will take centre-stage at Italy’s biggest live open-air concert on the 1st May 2017.

Visitors to 1M Europe/Primo Maggio website will be invited to vote for the shortlisted acts. Each vote can only be accredited to an act if the voter provides a valid email. Votes may only be cast once and there is no multiple voting.

Each member of the live audience will be issued with a ballot where they can vote for their 1st and 2nd choice act.

Across Europe viewers of the live stream will be able to cast their votes after each acts performance. Their votes are added to the live audience’s to establish the top 5 bands. The top 4 bands from the live audience plus the highest 2nd choice act are then put to the international judges.

At each live show the partners of 1M Europe and Primo Maggio, the press, music partners and special invited guests will make-up the judging panel. Each judge will vote for the act as they perform. Once the acts are decided by the live and stream audiences the judges’ votes will determine the act/s that will progress to London or the finalists who will perform at the Primo Maggio Concert.
Full list of judges will be publicised before each show and provided to the acts shortlisted for the online voting.

2 acts will perform at the televised Primo Maggio Concert in Rome on the 1st May 2017. Flights and accommodation for the acts to and from Rome will be paid for by 1M Europe.
